The little story
For the Epic Hardtail Comp Carbon World Cup, Specialized used a revolutionary frame design specifically tailored to the demands of racing at the highest level. At 1175 grams, it's one of the lightest frames ever made. To achieve this result, they used the FACT 10m and took some ideas from their road bikes. For example, the Rider-First Engineered™ concept was borrowed from Tarmac to tailor the tube size and carbon lamination sequence to each frame size. The result is an optimal balance of stiffness, weight and responsiveness.
When it comes to equipment, this Epic has it all with a RockShox Reba RL specific fork, SRAM 11-speed single chainring drivetrain and Roval Control low rolling resistance wheels. Combining a FACT 10m carbon composite grade frame with XC 29 geometry, this Epic offers tighter angles and optimal lightness for explosive acceleration and extreme agility in competition. For good measure, it also features a 148mm rear axle and all-new post-mount triangulated brake mounts.
The RockShox Reba RL 29-specific fork offers up to 100mm of travel, while easily accessible compression and rebound adjustments let you tailor the suspension to the terrain. Drivetrain 11-speed single-plate drivetrain powered by a robust mix of SRAM GX and NX components.
